Beauty ... The Coral Beauty Pygmy Angel

(Centropyge bispinosa)

Get it? It's name is Beauty? and it's a Coral Beauty? I know...it's a stretch, but...

Anyways...by far the most GORGEOUS and ACTIVE fish in our tank! Beautiful to look at, and graceful when it swims. (which is non-stop)
Here's the best shot of him. (Sorry if it's a bit blurry)

I'm fully aware that we humanize our pets, but this guy sometimes makes me wonder if I'm personifying him, or if he actually IS incredible. Let me explain...

See, I've had Beauty from the beginning. He was the first fish added to my tank. In the time since, he has proved himself nothing less than a wise, caring, moderator. He doesn't normally show any sign of agression. BUT, he is in no way submissive either. Basically, he keeps to himself unless someone is causing trouble. Then, he can be quite tough.

Every time (not sometimes, exaggerated...but EVERYTIME) I've added a new fish to the tank (or some invert/coral), Gregory or some other dominant fish, instantly begins to pick on it. Without fail, Beauty will ALWAYS sticks up for the new critter. He will instantly start shoo'n the bully fish away, and following (at a distance) the new guy, to make sure he's safe.

He truly seems to mediate IN the tank, where I can't. And for that, he is truly my most appreciated fish. Throw in with that that he's just beautiful to look at, and I must admit, he's my favorite inhabitant.
I really wish he would sit still once in a while though. So I could share with you how beautiful he is. Unfortunately, he's WAY to active to do that. But I managed to get some pictures that are somewhat decent.

While not very focused, this is the best shot of him showing his true colors.
I also liked that all his fins were fully extended.
(so just squint while you look at it...hahaha)

Added to the tank on February 2nd, 2005 from Congressional Aquarium..
