Kiki ... The Fire Goby

(Nemateleotris magnicifica)

Cause she's wearing all that make-up?

Kiki is a wonderful fish. She gets along with everyone, and is one of the most colorful fish in the tank. Only problem is, she's a little jumpy. No clue why, but for no reason, she'll just dart to the back of the tank, and hide under her rock. But I guess that's why this type of Goby is known as a "Dart Goby".

When she IS out, she loves to be looked at. The colors her are very interesting. Her front half is white, with lots of florecent colored highlights. But her back half is filled with more autumn-like colors. Reds, Oranges, hunter greens. It's a very interesting contrast.

She even has cute little florescent freckles on each cheek.

Kiki is all around a peaceful and beautiful fish. I wish these pictures did her justice.

The pic to your right shows her colors pretty good, but makes her look mean. But I assure you that's just the way the light is reflecting her florescent eye-liner.

A nice shot of her turning towards the camera.

Added to the tank on February 19th, 2005 from Congressional Aquarium.
