Speedy ... The Turbo Snail

The Name's not so funny anymore...
At first, we thought it'd be ironic to name a snail speedy. Turns out, in terms of snails, this guy is pretty FAST! Both in mobility, and in growth!
First off, most snails have ONE foot that they stretch and shrink to move. This guy has his foot divided in two, so he scoots along. Left, right, left, etc.
Here he is, scootin' along the front glass. You can clearly see his divided foot.
You can even see his mouth (he's upside-down).
This shot was taken with just the actinic lights on..
Add to that the fact that in the first month we had him, he had more than DOUBLED in size!
Sometimes I wonder if he'll cause the other snails to starve to death, if they don't start eating faster!
This picture shows how much he grew in ONE month.
The size of his shell when we got him can bee seen by looking at the purple (coralline aglae) on his shell.
Versus the new green part which shows his growth in one months time.
